When we came back after the summer break, we were briefed on unit ten, and what we would be doing with Celia up until Christmas.
We were told that we would be creating an educational product for children aged 5-11.
The assessment criteria for this unit are:
1.1 – Analyse the characteristics of the audience for a chosen creative media production activity.
1.2 – Interpret research activity to develop ideas and creative proposals for a chosen audience.
2.1 – Demonstrate independence in decision making in planning and developing creative solutions.
2.2 – Select appropriate media and processes to communicate ideas for an identified audience.
3.1 – Critically evaluate creative solutions against identified audience characteristics.
3.2 – Critically evaluate and reflect on learning to inform personal development.
Our first task was to brainstorm some ideas and topics that we could create for children between the ages of 5 and 11. The mind-map below shows all of the ideas that I came up with.

Well done Toni – you uploaded your mind map despite being hindered by computer problems!
Excellent start to the year – you have shown real commitment and produced a large volume of work in the first lesson – keep up this great standard of work.
Now continue your research into a wider selection of childrens’ educational resources for example basic animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zACy6KsVm8k or what about stop motion? You can download an app for your mobile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCuqwBOgi-Q or watch a YouTube tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcpPyewdLqc
Then choose 5 examples to showcase to the class next week. You can work in pairs or individually. Show evidence of this research in your blog and evaluate why you feel the chosen examples are successful and what influence you could use in your own work.
